Chips N Salsa

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Celebrate the day with a little Chips N Salsa, this week’s OTTB Tuesday horse! “Chips” is a 1998 Kentucky-bred mare who raced 45 times before being retired. All of her starts, including four wins, came at either Philadelphia Park or Suffolk Downs. The classy chestnut mare spent some time as a broodmare until the time came that her owner needed to find her a new home. That is where R.A.C.E Fund came into the picture, taking Chips in and finding her a place to spend the rest of her days.

Chips had some special needs that made it essential that just the right adopter was found for her. That turned out to be no issue for adopter Toni T. of Pennsylvania, who welcomed the special mare into her family’s farm and hearts. “We are very blessed to have Chips. We love her very much. She is so sweet and such a good girl. A joy to watch and be around.” As R.A.C.E. Fund President Marlene Murray puts it, with an appropriate pun, “Chips basically got the whole enchilada and we can’t ask for more than that.” The lovely mare has stolen the hearts of everyone she has met and has forged a particularly strong bond with her adopter’s daughter. She will spend the rest of her days as a companion, being doted on and loved.

R.A.C.E. Fund is based in Harrisburg, PA and works to transition retired Thoroughbreds and racetrack pony horses into new homes and careers. R.A.C.E. Fund was founded in 2003 and accredited by the TAA in 2014. Learn more about their program at: http://thoroughbredaftercare.org/.
