Mike Ernst is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (“DMTC”). He oversees the company’s finance, accounting, information technology, risk management and pari-mutuel operations as well as serving as secretary to the board of directors. He joined DMTC as its Chief Financial Officer in 1991, was named Senior Vice President in 2001 and assumed his current title in 2010.
Mr. Ernst currently serves on the boards of the Southern California Off-Track Wagering, CHRIMS, Inc., the Southern California Equine Foundation and the Dolly Green Research Foundation.
Prior to joining DMTC, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank of Southern California and, previous to that, served in the same capacities with Southwest Bancorp. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG.
His current and past affiliations include the boards of the San Diego Natural History Museum, California Equine Retirement Foundation, the California Race Track Association Pension Plan and the Advisory Board for UCSD College of Extended Studies.
Mr. Ernst, a native of San Diego County, resides in Carlsbad with his wife Melissa. They have three grown sons.
