Jay Privman

 

Jay Privman retired from Daily Racing Form in September 2022 after serving as that publication’s national correspondent since October 1998. In that role, he took the lead on DRF’s coverage of major races like the Triple Crown and the Breeders’ Cup, as well as for important events such as the Eclipse Awards and the Hall of Fame. In addition to his extensive career in turf writing, he covered horse racing on television for CBS, ESPN, Fox, and NBCSN, and was the long-time host of the radio show “Thoroughbred Los Angeles” on KLAA-AM 830 in Southern California. In January 2023 he received a Special Eclipse Award for career achievement. Other awards include the 2005 Walter Haight Award for career excellence in turf writing from the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters, an organization for which he served as president from 2000-2001, as well as the 2016 Charles W, Englehard Award from the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders. Privman was named to the Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2021.
