Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance On-Site Preakness Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LEXINGTON, KY — Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will be on-site at Laurel Park in Maryland during Preakness week with a variety of activations leading up to Preakness 151 on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The Preakness is a Grade I race that spans a distance of 1 3/16 miles and serves as the second leg of the Triple Crown. With the combined efforts of 1/ST RACING, The Maryland Jockey Club, America’s Best Racing, and Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, accredited aftercare will be promoted with several on-site activations throughout the week.

The 11th annual America’s Best Racing (ABR) Pre-Preakness Party to benefit Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation will be held at Laurel Park on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 6 PM EDT. The event will also raise awareness for the Ed Brown Society, an organization that celebrates the history of African Americans in the equine industry, as well as featuring a meet and greet with jockeys in support of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

The evening will consist of networking, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, guest analyst handicappers, and a silent auction. All proceeds of the auction, which will be both online and in person, will benefit industry charities. Tickets are available for purchase at bit.ly/ABRPartyTickets
and you can register for the auction here: cbo.io/app/public/bidapp/abrparty.

On both Black-Eyed Susan Day and Preakness Stakes Day, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will host the Best Turned Out Horse Awards at Laurel Park for each race. These awards will be sponsored by Hallway Feeds on Friday and Fidelity First on Saturday. Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will also have a booth on Friday and Saturday, where race fans and participants can learn more about accredited aftercare. Branded merchandise and race memorabilia will be gifted in exchange for donations.

On Friday, May 15, during Black-Eyed Susan Day, both Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Best Turned Out sponsor Hallway Feeds will be recognized with named undercard races. Following the running of the races a presentation will be made to the winning connections, including a branded winner’s blanket and gift bag.

On Saturday, May 16, the Sir Barton Stakes sponsored by Connolly Family Foundation will benefit Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. In a generous show of support for accredited aftercare, Connolly Family Foundation will make a donation of $125,000 to Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance during a check presentation following the running of the Sir Barton Stakes. Additionally, the winning connections will receive a branded blanket and gift bag.

“The Maryland Jockey Club and 1/ST RACING are honored to continue supporting Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and to celebrate their presence during Preakness 151,” said Georganne Hale, Vice President of Racing Development, Maryland Jockey Club, and Board of Directors Vice President, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. “Highlighting accredited aftercare during such an important week reinforces our shared commitment to the lifelong care and well-being of Thoroughbreds, and we are proud to help bring that message to fans throughout the week.”
