Maryland Jockey Club, Vice President of Racing Development


Ms. Georganne Hale is currently the Vice President of Racing Development at the Maryland Jockey Club. A pioneer in Thoroughbred racing, she started with the Maryland Jockey Club in 1984 as an assistant racing secretary. After being named racing secretary at Timonium in 1986, she was named racing secretary at the Maryland Jockey Club in 2000 – at the time, the first and only woman to serve as racing secretary at a major North American racetrack. She has been instrumental in building the Preakness, Black-Eyed Susan and Maryland Million programs and fostering strong partnerships with owners, breeders and trainers throughout North America. Hale has also mentored a number of racing officials. She is the Maryland Jockey Club’s lead on philanthropic projects with Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Beyond the Wire, she started and ran the All-Thoroughbred Horse Show at Pimlico for 5 years, and she currently coordinates the Canter for a Cause event each year at Pimlico.
